Daehan Shipbuilding Signs MOU with KOMAC to Develop Small Vessels KOMAC Signs MOU with Daehan Shipbuilding KOMAC announced on July 26th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Daehan Shipbuilding for the development of small ships on July 25th. Jung Dae-sung, CEO of Korea Shipbuilding, and Yoo Hee-Cheol, vice president of KOMAC, attended the signing ceremony. At the signing ceremony, they promised cooperation in the design and engineering of small ships and receiving orders. The memorandum of understanding was signed to establish a cooperative system with the outstanding construction capabilities of Daehan Shipbuilding and the excellent design capabilities of KOMAC. By signing the memorandum of understanding, Daehan Shipbuilding will get global competition in the small ship market by getting KOMAC’s latest ship type, technology, and design know-how. According to this memorandum of understanding, Both sides will cooperate in the development of ▲ LNG BUNKING VESSEL technology ▲ LNG fuel tank and LNG fuel system design. Jeong Dae-sung, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, said, "We hope that this memorandum of understanding will break away from the business environment limited in medium and large ships and maximize sales through active small ship’s sales and obtaining orders." Yoo Hee-Cheol, vice president of KOMAC, said, "We will actively support Daehan Shipbuilding obtain small ships. And We will establish friendly relations with Daehan Shipbuilding and increase profit by providing KOMAC’s perfect design technology.

Cooperation between Daehan Shipbuilding and LR, for 7,500 dwt LNG bunkering ships On August 25, Daehan Shipbuilding and LR participated in a joint development project (JDP) to develop a 7,500 dwt LNG Bunking Vessel. Jeong Dae-Sung, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, and Kim Young-Doo, chief technology officer of DNV GL, signed the JDP at the Busan LR office. According to the agreement, Daehan Shipbuilding will develop 7,500 dwt LNG bunkering ships with LR Busan and major design drawings by the end of this year from early September. In the process of this cooperation, Daehan Shipbuilding will accelerate its sales and orders with LR's technical supports and reviews. With the growing interest in LNG fuel, LNG bunkering ships’ demand is also expected to increase. Considering this market situation, Daehan Shipbuilding is trying to diversify its portfolio to meet the needs of the market in addition to its main ship types. Jeong Dae-Sung, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, said, "Daehan Shipbuilding already has the competitiveness in the short term based on the best quality and performance in the medium-sized tanker market. To respond flexibly to future market conditions, we will secure sufficient capabilities for LNG bunkering ships to diversify our portfolio, including gas ships." Daehan Shipbuilding Signs Technology Development MOU with DNV GL Daehan Shipbuilding and DNV GL signed a memorandum of understanding on wednesday to develop a small LPG Ship. Several people participated signing ceremony including Korean CEO Chung Dae-sung, Vice President of Business Lee Hwa-ryong instead of Korean CEO Vidal Dolonen, who were unable to attend due to a visit to their home countries. This cooperation will start in early September and be completed at the end of this year, and Daehan Shipbuilding will proceed with the main design with the technical support and consideration of DNV GL, and will use the results to accelerate sales and orders. Chung Dae-sung, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, said, "Daehan Shipbuilding has the best competitiveness in a short period based on the best quality and performance in the mid-sized tanker market. Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries launch, 1400 ton National fishery supervision vessel, Mugunghwa No.15, for the first time The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' West Sea Fisheries Management Service announced on August 24 that it will launch a 1,470-ton national fishery supervision vessel, Mugunghwa No.15, in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, to establish fishing order in the West Sea and to prevent Chinese fishing boat’s illegal fishing. The Mugunghwa No.15 is 79.6 meters long, 13.0 meters wide, and 7.4 meters deep, equipped with two 2,720 kilowatts of engines, and can sail for 20 days without additional fuel supply. The maximum speed is 18 knots (33 km/h). It is equipped with the latest radar and electronic sea route system and is equipped with two water cannons and two high-speed control boats (above 40 prever knots per hour) that can cope with illegal fishing. Mugunghwa 15 will be completed in mid-April and handed over to the West Sea Fisheries Management Service. The head of the West Sea Fisheries Management Service said, "We will continue to build state-of-the-art fishing boats and deploy them in the West Sea Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to protect Korea's precious fisheries resources."
